5 Unanswerable Questions That Are Driving Me Crazy
There are plenty of things I don't understand, but these five unanswerable questions are bugging more than usual today and that is driving me crazy.
I happen to be quite happy about the fact that I don't know everything, and that I don't understand everything in life. If that were not the case, there would be no mysteries, no wondering, no exploring. How boring would that be?
However, there are some things that I wonder about, and it's likely I will never understand them. These five things are cutting into my sleep, and keeping me awake at night. They are dominating my daytime thoughts and cutting into my productivity at work. When will it all end?
Right now, I'm wondering if I am the only person on the planet who doesn't have the answers to these questions, which is something else that is keeping me awake at night. Allow me to share them with you, so maybe at least I won't be the only person in the Grand Valley staying awake at night.
Here we go.
#1 - Why is it that men get so much grief for leaving the toilet seat up while women get a free pass for leaving the toilet seat down? It's not that I mind putting the seat up, it's not like it's difficult. And I don't mind putting the seat down for the next customer, and I'm happy to do it. It just feels a little unfair to me.
#2 - Why is it that you'll be sitting at a particular stoplight in Grand Junction, not a car in sight from any direction, but yet, you will sit there, and sit there, and sit there waiting for the light to change? C'mon, man, it's 11:00 pm! We have put men on the moon, traveled to the bottom of the ocean, and figured out how to create sugar-free, fat-free pudding, but, yet, we continue to struggle with traffic signals.
#3 - Why is it that a quarterpounder comes with pickles and onions on it automatically? Isn't it a bit presumptuous to think that everybody wants pickles and onions on their sandwich? Wouldn't it be easier and more efficient to put those things on the burger when a customer requests it?
#4- Why is it that I seem to always get the noisiest, roughest driving, and bumpiest grocery cart in the entire store? Isn't there someone whose only job is to make sure that every grocery cart operates smoothly and quietly? Isn't it about making my shopping experience as pleasant as possible? What actually is the lifespan of the average grocery cart?
#5 Why is it that my heart beats a little faster whenever I see a cop car driving down the street? I'm a law-abiding citizen. I try not to speed even when there are no cops around. I'm not going to rob or attack anyone. I've never been in jail. I don't carry any weapons. I'm not on any top 10 most wanted lists (that I'm aware of). So, why does seeing a cop make me nervous and raise my blood pressure?
There you go. This is what's in my brain right now, five unanswerable questions that will haunt me until my death or cause it.
