As a veteran of the Colorado Pork and Hops Challenge, I thought I'd take a moment to share some things I've learned over the years that will help make your Pork and Hops experience the best it can be.

Make sure to take some extra cash - Part of the experience of Pork and Hops is the great bbq, so make sure you bring along some money to buy a plate or two. You may also want to buy some stuff from the vendors so a few extra bucks on top of that can come in handy.  In the event you run short, there is an on-site ATM so your debit card may come in handy.  Also, if you plan on buying alcohol, bring a valid photo Id.  No Id equals no beer.

Wear some shoes that are good for walking. Parking is limited at the park so you may have to park on the side-streets and walk in. Plus, you'll want to walk around the festival and check-out some of the vendors and games.  Remember too, barbecue is messy, so some extra clothes in the car, especially if you have kids is a must.

Bring your own chair unless you like sitting on the grass.  There will be a few chairs for rent, but wouldn't you rather spend the money on food, drink and fun?

If BBQ is one of your all time favorite foods, don't miss the professional bbq sampling Saturday at 1:30pm. $5 gets you 10 samples from the pros who are competing at the event.  Trust me, this is the best bbq you will ever eat.  It also goes pretty fast, so don't be late.

While you're at the event, stop by the KOOL 107.9 tent Saturday afternoon and visit. While you're at it, sign up and play in our Corn Hole Tournament you could win some great prizes!
