The month of August is a good month for military veterans, who are receiving free admission to Colorado's state parks.

Thanks to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, military members and veterans will get to visit any Colorado state park throughout the month of August free of charge.

Any military personnel who want to take advantage of the free admission will need to pick up a pass at any state park office.

Camping and fishing fees, of course, will still apply, but the free admission will allow veterans and their families to enjoy Colorado's great outdoors at a reduced cost before the end of summer.

GIving free admission to veterans is a small way to say thanks for their service, and I'm glad that Colorado does this. However, while it may not be practical to offer free admission year round to every veteran, it seems reasonable that they should at least get a reduced rate on entrance fees, and camping and fishing fees throughout the year.
