Ok, so Colorado is a LOT of things but I don't think I would use tropical at any point as an adjective to describe our awesome state. However, in this case it kind of applies, because just looking at this place makes me want to check it out and dive in.

Once that would happen though, the harsh reality that even though it LOOKS as clear and blue as tropical waters, it certainly wouldn't feel that way, especially this time of year.

I'm not sure of the water temperature but I'm guessing it would be a good 30-40 degrees colder than anywhere in the southern hemisphere...but still gorgeous nonetheless.

According to Only In Your State,  Columbine Lake was mentioned as one of the most beautiful lakes in the state, and I have to say, they're not wrong.

It's located down in the San Juan Mountains near Silverton where you'll be hard pressed to find any water around that is bluer and/or more clear. I wasn't familiar with this spot so I wanted to do a little more digging myself and took to Instagram, and after checking out some of these pics, I HAVE to check this place out because it looks incredible.

Fair warning though...it's a haul to get there from anywhere in NoCo, but if you're heading in that direction or are looking for a fun weekend getaway, this is the spot for you.
