See Frighteningly Rare Footage of Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett Performing the ‘Monster Mash’
You might not realize how long "Monster Mash" has been around, but the song is actually (slightly) older than me. Bobby Picket was performing with his band one night and during the song "Little Darlin," made popular by the Diamonds, he broke into a monologue imitating Boris Karloff. The audience loved it and a fellow band member thought they should do more with the Karloff imitation so they composed "Monster Mash" and recorded the song and credited it as Bobby "Boris" Picket and the Crypt-kickers. The song was a huge hit and went all the way to #1 in October of 1962."Monster Mash" was re-released several times and appeared on the billboard charts three more times in the next eleven years.
The song has been thrilling tricker-or-treaters of all ages for generations. But most of us have never seen Bobby "Boris" Picket actually perform the song. So here is a rare video of Bobby doing the "Monster Mash".
