The Roice-Hurst Humane Society is jumping on board a campaign to increase adoptions of black pets. The third annual Back in Black event is going on during the month of November.

Best Friends Animal Society is sponsoring the nationwide event to raise awareness of the need for the adoption of black pets, which are often times overlooked because of their color.

Honestly, I am surprised that adopting black pets is so problematic. In my lifetime, I've had a black cat, and two black dogs. Frisco, my black lab mix is  a shelter animal we adopted when she was just a puppy. She's six years old now, and we couldn't be happier with her.

During the month of November, Roice-Hurst Humane Society is offering 50% off adoption fees of all black pets. If you are thinking of adoption a dog or cat, don't let the color black keep you from selecting one. I can tell you from first hand experience that black pets are excellent pets.
