As we take time to reflect on the 12th anniversary of the horrific events of September 11, 2001, the Grand Junction memorial dedicated to that day now has a new location and a slightly different look. Originally, the memorial was at 7th and Main. Where has it been relocated?

Now, you'll find the memorial at the Grand Junction Police and Fire Department on Ute Avenue between 6th and 7th Streets, and they've added to the sculpture from the original piece.

On September 11, 2009 when the sculpture was unveiled, there was a place for a piece of the World Trade Center, but the piece did not arrive in time for the unveiling. That piece was originally mounted separately from the rest of the sculpture. In its new location, it became the centerpiece of the memorial, mounted between two clear pillars symbolizing the two brilliant lights that illuminate the New York City sky at Ground Zero.

Take some time to see the memorial sculpture and remember, reflect and pay tribute to that day and the greatness that has risen from it.

There will be a ceremonial lighting of "Remember" tomorrow night September12 at 8 pm outside the Grand Junction Fire Administration building.
