Quick-Thinking Man Saves Dog From Getting Strangled in Elevator
This man wasted no time in saving a life.
A hotel manager in Greenville, S.C. saved a dog's life when he saw the pooch's leash had gotten stuck in an elevator that was going up.
Ben Duke was leaving a storage area when he noticed the leash was stuck between the two elevator doors as a guest was going up. “The doors closed, and I guess he didn’t realize that his dog had wandered off,” Duke said.
Duke saw the pooch was being dragged and managed to free the animal from the leash. “I just grabbed it, and struggled with it, then I guess adrenaline set in or something, and I snapped the leash right above my hand,” Duke said.
While the dog's owner was in tears after learning what happened, Duke is keeping it cool. “Everybody is calling me a hero, but I can’t imagine the other outcome,” he said. “I just did what you are supposed to do in this situation."
Clearly, anyone who owns a dog knows how precious they are.
A similarly frightening episode played out earlier this year in Russia, which you can see from inside the elevator.
