Grand Mesa's Powderhorn Ski Resort be opening this weekend giving skiers and snowboarders a chance to finally hit the slopes at Grand Junction's closest ski area.

While some enjoy the mild temperature and dry roads, it's been a struggle for Powderhorn who delayed it's scheduled opening because you can't ski without snow.

Fortunately, the temperatures have been cold enough to allow for snowmaking. That and a couple of inches from the storm last week will allow for a limited opening. The storm moving across the state this week should also help.

EZ Rider will be the only lift open this weekend and terrain will be limited to Lower Dude, EZ and the terrain park on Lower Peacemaker.

EZ Rider lift tickets are $25 for those aged 13 and up and $12 for those 12 and under. There's also a holiday special that includes lift ticket, a 2 hour lesson, and equipment rental for $45.
