Thursday and Friday night could be an amazing opportunity to see a celestial event that is rarely seen in Colorado. A coronal mass ejection and a C7 solar flare are heading towards earth and it could be possible to see the northern lights.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks is forecasting that the event will be seen overhead as far south as Cheyenne, Wyoming, Lincoln, Nebraska, New York City, and Portland, Oregon.

The Northern Lights could possibly be seen low on the horizon as far south as Carson City, Nevada, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Raliegh, North Carolina. Most all of Colorado is in the low horizon visibility line.

However, Cloud cover and snow may make it hard to witness the event. So fingers crossed we will get to see the natural light show in the skies.
