While our country is divided by politics, religion, and perceived social injustice, music is the unifying force that brings us together, and the U.S. Navy Band will make us forget the horrors of politics.

Grand Junction is one of 18 U.S. cities hosting the U.S. Navy Band Commodores, the Navy's premiere jazz ensemble. The band has been performing big band jazz for the Navy and for the country for 40 years.

The Commodores are one of six performing ensembles that tour the country 12-15 weeks out of the year. All of the sailors in the band are full-time professional musicians, and most have music degrees.

With the concert being just a few days before the election, a lot of folks may be looking for a little diversion from all of the politics. This may be just what we need.

The Grand Junction concert is scheduled for November 2, 7:30PM at Grand Junction High School.
