If you've ever wondered why police don't catch burglars in the act, after watching this video from a burglary in Montrose, you'll completely understand.

The burglary occurred at Area Best Pawn and Loan in the 900 block of East Main Street around 3:20 a.m. on July 5.

The roughly two-minute video clip shows nothing exciting until after the one-minute mark when the action begins. Note how little time it takes the burglar to enter the store, grab four handguns (per police report) and leave.

Even if the store's alarm went off when the glass in the door was broken it would be almost impossible, unless police were very close by, to capture the burglar before he left the store.

The other notable part of the video is the burglar appeared to know what he was going to steal and where to find it. I'm no detective, but I think the suspect had been in the store during regular business hours planning his after-hours shopping.

If you can help the Montrose Police Department identify and locate the person in the video, you can report that information anonymously through Montrose Regional Crime Stoppers at 970-249-8500. You can also download and use the mobile app P3 Tips, or provide information via P3tips website.
