Von Miller will serve as a “lifestyle correspondent” at the famous horse race.

Break out the crazy hats and mint juleps! This Saturday is the 145th running of the most famous horse race on the planet, The Kentucky Derby. The "The Most Exciting Two Minutes In Sports" is held annually on the first Saturday of May at Churchill Downs in Louisville Kentucky. Often called "The Run for the Roses", because a blanket of roses is draped over the winner, is the first leg of the famed Triple Crown, that's followed by The Preakness and The Belmont Stakes.

I'm not exactly sure what a “lifestyle correspondent” does but it sounds like a fun gig. "This will be the 145th year of the Derby and I feel like each year is bigger and more elaborate. It's a great combination of culture, fashion, sport, and the outside—all things I enjoy," said #58 Von Miller.

It's not unusual for NBC Sports to use athletes for this gig. Recently figure skaters Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir had the honor. “As a fan of the Kentucky Derby, I am thrilled to be a part of NBC Sports’ coverage of this historic sporting event,”  continued Miller. “I look forward to showcasing the excitement, fashion, and enthusiasm at Churchill Downs.”

Von is a veteran of pre-game sports coverage. Back in February, he also worked the pregame for Super Bowl LIII. You can catch the race on local NBC affiliate KKCO 11. The steeds are set to charge from the gate at 4:50 PM local time.
