Mesa County Central Library Will Soon Resume Sunday Hours

If you're like me, you're ready for the Mesa County Libraries to resume their seasonal hours. Coming soon, the libraries will once again be open on Sundays.

Recently, at the ripe-old-age of 49, I've become a huge fan of the Mesa County Libraries. I was never a bookworm, but was known to buy a book or two from time to time. Lately though, things have changed. The library is my new home away from home.

With summer comes outdoor fun. Regrettably, with summer, we lose our Sundays at the library. That will all change in the very near future. Starting Sunday, September 8, 2019, the seasonal Sunday hours will resume at the Central Library at 443 N. 6th Street in Grand Junction. The Central library will be open Sunday's from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. through May 17, 2020.

I can't wait. Sunday is the best time to visit the Central library. Take a walk in the morning, quick breakfast, and the hit the library.

Now for the bad news. All Mesa County Libraries locations will be closed Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, for the Labor Day holiday. Library branches in Collbran, De Beque, Orchard Mesa, and Palisade will observe the holiday closure Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019.

What will we do? Well, here's some good news. The library’s website, mesacountylibraries.org, will be available over the holiday, and patrons will be able to place holds, renew materials, and use eResources such as the OverDrive Digital Library, Mango Languages, and Kanopy.

Take full advantage of the Sunday hours at the Central Library. Trust me, it's the best day to visit.
