Kevin Spacey To Star in Film About a Man Who Becomes a Cat
An afternoon update from our We Swear We’re Not Making This Up Desk: TheWrap reports that Kevin Spacey, Oscar-winner for ‘The Usual Suspects’ and ‘American Beauty,’ will soon appear as the star of a cat-centric film called ‘Nine Lives.’ The “high-concept comedy” is described thusly (and, again, we didn’t make this up):
Spacey will star as a workaholic businessman who suffers a terrible accident that leaves him trapped in the body of the family cat.
What kind of “terrible accident” turns a human being into a cat? Is voodoo involved? Or maybe some kind of mad scientist? I am genuinely intrigued by this story.
‘Nine Lives’ will be directed by ‘Men in Black’ filmmaker Barry Sonnenfeld; TheWrap quotes him describing the project as a “funny, emotional, commercial comedy.” Well, obviously; who doesn’t want to see Frank Underwood become a scheming, manipulative feline? (Coincidentally, we suggest a title change from ‘Nine Lives’ to ‘Meows of Cards.’)
And now, an EXCLUSIVE for ScreenCrush readers: A first look at some ‘Nine Lives’ concept art.*
