A twice-postponed concert in Grand Junction is getting a new date.

The iconic 70s and 80s band KC and the Sunshine Band was originally scheduled to be in Grand Junction in May 2019, but a Florida hurricane forced the postponement of the concert to May 30, 2020. As that date approached, we all knew there was no way the concert was going to happen then, but there was no word from the band or local promoters about the status of the concert.

The news finally broke today that KC and the Sunshine Band is now scheduled to be at Las Colonias Amphitheater on September 5. Anyone who purchased tickets for the concert scheduled last year or for the rescheduled date should hold on to those tickets. They will be honored at the September concert. If you have purchased tickets but can not attend, refunds are available at your point of purchase whether that was through Ticketmaster or the Avalon Theatre box office. If you have questions or concerns you may call 970-263-5757.

Obviously, a certain amount of uncertainty remains about the immediate future of concerts and sporting events, but promoters and organizers are trying to carry on with the hope that over the next few months we'll be able to safely gather for concerts and special events. I think we are all hoping for the same thing, and when this concert finally happens in Grand Junction we are definitely going to be putting on our Boogie Shoes to Get Down Tonight.
