We have heard that lots of businesses are struggling after the COVID-19 pandemic swept across our country closing stores for long periods of time that no one expected. And JC Penney is one of those businesses, they are one of the largest clothing stores in the United States and they have announced that 154 of their locations will be closing and the Montrose locations are one of the stores that will be closing.

We got the details from the article posted by JC Penney listing four Colorado locations that will be closing for good. Along with the Montrose location Durango, Fort Collins, and Greeley stores will also be closing for good.

This is obviously not good news as there will be lots of employees that will have to look for new employment after these stores close.

The tough news of the closing is always followed up with the details regarding the store closing sales, which are expected to begin on June 12th after the company files an order with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court on June 11th.

While not all JC Penney locations will be closing the company is focusing their resources on online shopping. There will be further store closings with 240 expected in total with 192 closed by February of 2021, and the remaining 50 to close by the end of 2022.

If we hear about similar things happening with other stores in Colorado we will keep you updated. Make sure you have our station app to get all of the most topical and timely information.
