Colorado’s Governor Polis Expected to Extend Mask Mandate Until Mid-April
I’ll be honest with the low COVID-19 numbers we have seen and how it seemed that businesses were opening up, I’m a bit shocked to find out that Governor Polis announced in a news conference that he expected to extend the mask mandate through mid-April. With the current mask mandate set to expire this Saturday, April 3rd I thought it would soon become a personal choice on whether to continue with face masks but that will not be the case. According to 4CBS, Governor Polis implied that the current mask mandate would be extended once again for another two weeks.
After hitting the middle of April the state of Colorado would then give most of the control to local health officials when dealing with COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines.
It’s Going to be Interesting to See How Many People Wear Masks Moving Forward in Colorado
This past weekend I was speaking with my wife as we entered Walmart about how we were in the minority by wearing a mask. I wear a mask in businesses that ask me to do so, I feel like If I am coming into their business I need to be able to follow their rules. But if this mask mandate is extended as expected I would assume to see fewer and fewer people wearing their masks.
Here Is Where Colorado’s COVID-19 Restrictions Get Confusing
On one hand, we will be able to soon watch Colorado Rockies games from the stadium, where thousands of people will be in attendance. But then, Governor Polis says to continue to practice social distancing and avoid large gatherings for another month or two. As a big sports fan, I love sporting events being attended in-person again but it seems like we are getting mixed messages from our leaders.
Will you be following the mask mandate if it is extended at the end of the week?
