This weekend I stopped off at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, but it was all Greek to me! Really it was!The annual 2012 Grand Junction Greek Festival was Saturday (September 22) at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church at 3585 North 12th Street, right next to Horizon Towers and the roundabout at Horizon and 12th. The festival happens the third Saturday each September and a portion of the proceeds raised from the event are donated to a local charity. This year's donation is being split between the Grand Junction Catholic Outreach and the Partners Foundation.

So what do you find at the Greek Festival? Lots of Greek Food like Flaming Cheese, Greek Donuts, Greek Coffees, and of course lots of Ouzo, along with Greek White and Red wines and Greek beer. There were also Greek dancers performing for the crowds every two hours to showcase Greek traditions and everyone is expected to get up and dance along with them during each show.

You are also invited to enter and visit St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, a small and quaint church where Father Luke was there to talk about the church and answer any questions about the diocese. The silent auction was also taking place in the lobby of the church where you could bid on a variety of donated items to help raise money for the charities.

A great time was had by all that attended from the young to the 93 year old young at heart. Mark your 2013 calender's third Saturday in September and plan to attend next year's Greek Festival and have a great time with the entire family. Then it can be all Greek for you too!
