If you're looking for a pleasant place to walk or take your dog to play, consider  a visit to Palisade's Riverbend Park. On an early Sunday morning, you can have the place pretty much to yourself. Following a failed attempt to climb Mt. Garfield last Sunday morning, I chose to pay a visit to Riverbend Park. The park itself is fairly large, extending well beyond the "park" area at the far east end.

You can enjoy a quiet walk along the Colorado River, with concrete paths and plenty of rest stops. The area is designated as an off leash area for pets.

When I pulled into the parking area right around 9 a.m. Sunday morning, there were only a handful of other vehicles. During the first half mile of my walk, I encountered only one other group of people.

Along the way there were several amenities, including picnic areas and a disc golf course. To break it down, the area offered trails, disc golf, plenty of scenery, a walk along the river, wildlife, and places to get together with friends. All this for the low, low price of FREE.

By the time I returned to the parking area, there were far more vehicles in the lot than when I started. That's to be expected. Most were dog walkers with very well behaved pets.

Palisade's Riverbend Park is awesome 365 days a year. The current winter weather, combined with the well maintained pathways, makes the park is the perfect place for a morning walk. Visit Riverbend Park the next chance you get.
