You can pop the cork on a bottle of champagne the usual way. Or, you can make it fun with this awesome way using a 'saber'.

This style of opening champagne is call sabrage, or the art of opening the bottle with a saber. Since most people don't have a saber, the flat side of a large sturdy kitchen knife or spatula is supposed to work just as well.

Even though my demonstration opened the bottle, true sabrage typically breaks the top off the bottle. So, while the cork popped, the demonstration was a fail. With a few more bottles of champagne and some practice, maybe I can get this to work like it's supposed to.
