Colorado Department of Parks & Wildlife recently posted 'before and after' photos of how an I-25 underpass was transformed to better suit animal use.

Along I-25, south of Denver is CDOT's 'I-25 Gap Project' where they are working on 18 miles of the interstate between southern Monument and Castle Rock. Part of the project included recent improvements to help animals use one of the 60 wildlife-friendly underpasses in the state.

Apparently, this underpass, north of Monument Hill, had a 'dogleg' which cut off how far animals could see into the underpass, which makes the wildlife unwilling to venture in and through the underpass.

CDOT and the Colorado Department of Wildlife posted photos of how CDOT has made that underpass animal-friendly, by removing the 'dogleg' that the underpass had.

Animal-Friendly underpasses make the highways safer for both animals and travelers.
