You've probably seen the construction for some time now. A new Grand Junction coffee shop, located just off the intersection of 12th and North Avenue, is open and ready for business. Have you checked it out?

Starbucks is now open at 1350 North Avenue in Grand Junction. It's hard to imagine a better location. It's just one block away from Colorado Mesa University and directly across the street from the stadium. They officially opened for business on August 20.

I've been following the construction since it started. My family built (and still own) the apartment building immediately next door. I can remember playing on this lot back in the mid-1970's.

At one time these lots were occupied by large trees. After 42 years, the lumber from one of those trees can still be found in my grandpa's woodpile.

For a long time Starbuck's lot was home to the greenhouse portion of Johnson's House of Flowers. That business was around forever. I remember buying my corsage and boutonniere at Johnson's back in 1988.

I can't say I've tried the coffee at this location. I'm not one for gourmet coffee. I like the kind you can buy a one-month supply of in a can for $6. Who knows? When payday rolls around, maybe I'll give it a try.

Congratulation on your new store. The location is perfect. Here's wishing you a long and happy run in Grand Junction.
