Do you have youngsters expressing the desire to be creative? Are your kids fixated on superheroes like Batman and Spider-Man? If this describes your situation, you can kill two birds with one stone. There is a place you can take your kids in Western Colorado where they can get both their creative and superhero fix.

The Mesa County Libraries offer weekly "Neighbors Read" family story times every Thursday in April. These activities are pretty eclectic. Subjects this month range from hand drumming to knitting to drawing the faces of Batman and Spider-Man. Literally, something for everyone.

Story Times are 6:30 p.m. each Thursday, beginning April 7, at the Mesa County Central Library at Fifth Street and Grand Avenue.

Topics and special guests scheduled for April include:

  • April 7 - Hand Drumming with local drummer Robintix Perryman
  • April 14 - Knitting and Weaving with library staff member Rachel Hanson.
  • April 21 - Kids' Yoga with Nicole Fitzgerald.
  • April 28 - Drawing superheroes' faces, including Batman and Spider-Man, with library staff member Aaron Farris.

These activities are available at no charge. Story Times are great for kids of all ages, so bring the entire family.
