For decades the free Bob Grant calendar was a fixture at offices and homes around Western Colorado. Someone should bring them back.

Travel back in time to Grand Junction of the past with "Your 1975 Bob Grant Calendar." These free calendars contained photographic highlights from the previous year's Daily Sentinel stories. Look carefully at the images in the gallery below. Chances are you might see someone you recognize.

You used to get these for free at Mesa Federal Savings. Here it is 44 years later, and these calendars are long gone. Yes, if you're like me, you get a couple of free calendars in the mail each year. Then again, with the convenience of a cell phone, many have given up on the ol' wall calendar.

The Bob Grant calendar came to a screeching halt when the savings and loan scandal erupted back in the 1980s. The scandal forced local banks and financial institutions to observe a temporary freeze on advertising.

What would it take to bring them back? Well, for starters, a sponsor. I have all of Bob Grant's photos (he was my grandpa), but unfortunately, don't own a printing company from which to produce the calendar (hint, hint). Wouldn't it be fun to bring back a "retro" calendar using Bob Grant photos?

Special thanks to Arlie Jordan, my dad, and Bob Grant's son-in-law, for all the work in scanning the 1975 calendar.
