Grand Junction Fourth of July Parade is On, GJ Symphony Takes Over
Last week we reported there may not be a July 4th parade in Grand Junction this year unless there was a group willing to take over the organizing of the parade. The good news this week is the parade is on, and the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra will make sure it happens.
Last week, the Downtown Grand Junction Business Improvement District announced they were not going to organize the parade this year, and needed some local group to step up and take it over.
Jeremy Herigstad, Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra Marketing Director says, “The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra is excited to be the new organizer for the Independence Day Parade. The Symphony looks forward to improving and growing this yearly celebration. We are actively pursuing partnerships and new ways to involve the community in this our first year as parade organizers.”
Fidelity Mortgage will be the sponsor of the Independence Day parade that goes along Main Street in downtown Grand Junction.
The Downtown Grand Junction Business Improvement District will provide assistance with the parade, but the GJ Symphony will be responsible for organizing this long-time Fourth of July tradition. The good news, the hundreds of people that usually come out for the parade will still have a parade to watch.
It looks like this year's Fourth of July celebration in Grand Junction will be as grand as ever with the parade, fun at the Lincoln Park swimming pool, and fireworks.
