A Grand Junction man is dead after being accidentally shot Thursday night (September 21).

The Grand Junction police responded to reports of a shooting in the 2100 block of North 17th Circle around 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a victim who had died of an apparent gunshot wound.

Police believe the man who fired the weapon made the emergency call. He was taken to the police department for questioning.

The names of the people involved as well as the specific circumstances surrounding the shooting are not being released pending investigation. Also, no charges have been filed against the shooter as of Thursday night.
