The City of Fruita is trying something new this year for the holidays in hopes of truly capturing the Holiday Spirit. Fruita is hosting its first ever Holiday Lights Competition, and organizers are hoping it becomes an annual event.

Organizers are asking the public to nominate a favorite display in the Fruita area. Potential winner categories are Traditional, Creative, and Griswald’ish.

All nominations must be submitted by Monday, December 9. Organizers ask that all nominated light displays be in their full glory on Wednesday, December 11 and Thursday, December 12, since those are the dates that Seniors will judge the participating displays during the Holiday Light Tour.

The winning display will receive a certificate of recognition.

Nomination forms can be picked up and turned in at the Fruita Community Center front desk, 324 North Coulson Street in Fruita.
