Four Grand Junction City Employees Test Positive For COVID-19
The City of Grand Junction has announced four of its employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
Four employees in the Utilities Department are currently isolating after testing positive. The city along with Mesa County Public Health is in the process of trying to identify anyone who may have come in contact with these four employees. Anyone who is identified as possibly being exposed will be asked to isolate, monitor symptoms, and receive a test for the virus.
The positive COVID tests mean there will be minimal staffing on water and wastewater operations as the staff is split to minimize further spread of the virus. For the time being, wastewater laboratory services have been suspended for partner agencies. Other city services are not currently being impacted.
The city manager's office says they have been preparing for the potential for positive cases of COVID for employees since the beginning of the pandemic. The plan is designed to enable the city to continue to function and provide services to the community without interruption.
As of Sunday, Mesa County Public Health had recorded a total of 662 positive COVID cases since the pandemic began. There was an increase of 16 positives from Saturday to Sunday with a total of 155 over the last two weeks.
