Depending upon your perspective, spring clean-up is either a blessing or a curse. Sure, it's great that spring is here, and it's nice to have an easy way to dispose of unwanted stuff, but, spring cleaning can also be a lot of work.

Spring Clean-Up Time

The City of Grand Junction's annual spring clean-up campaign begins Monday, April 5 - which means a lot of folks will be spending the weekend cleaning out garages, sheds, outbuildings, closets, and yards and weeding out the broken down furniture and other items that nobody wants or needed.

For some, it may mean getting rid of basic yard waste including trimmed trees, shrubs, and weeds. Others may have odds and ends and unwanted household items that truly belong in the Mesa County Landfill. Regardless of what is, all residents have to do is put their unwanted items by the curb and it will be picked up and hauled away - absolutely free of charge.

Who Is Eligible For Spring Clean Up Services?

Spring clean-up is available to residents who live within the city limits of Grand Junction. However, not all residents are included. If you aren't sure if you are included, take a look at the city's map of pick-up locations. If you live in either of the shaded areas, your residence is included in the pick-up. If you're on the North side of North Avenue, you need to have your stuff on the street by 7am on Monday, April 5. Those on the south side of North Avenue should have their stuff set out by 7am on Monday, April 12. It's okay to go ahead and set your stuff out right now.

Where To Put Your Trash

Items need to be placed in a single pile in the street in front of your house right up against the gutter. Piles need to be at least three feet away from buildings, fences, mailboxes, and cars. Be sure your items don't end up on a neighbor's lawn or blocking their driveway. The average homeowner likely would have no problem with this, but if your pile is super large - as in bigger than a dump truck load- you'll be charged $150 for the extra load.
