How would like to score a free movie ticket just for saving a life? If you donate blood at Grand Junction's St. Mary's Regional Blood Center next Monday, that's exactly what will happen.

I can remember when Grand Junction movie theaters raised their ticket prices from $2.50 to $3.00. We all just about died. We couldn't believe it. Last Monday I went to the theater and paid $12.00. I can forfeit quite a bit of blood for $12.

St. Mary's Blood Center is hosting a blood drive this Monday, July 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. When you donate on Monday, you'll receive a free movie ticket, while supplies last.

Just a suggestion - When you get your free movie ticket, don't use it to go see Avengers: Infinity War. You'll want your blood back. That movie will suck the life out of you faster than donating five pints of blood. Sorry, just an opinion. I'm sure some people loved the movie.

I digress. You'll feel good knowing you're saving a life. I donate all the time. It takes less than 30 minutes, and no appointments are necessary. Basically, you show up, answer a few questions you have no way of knowing the answer to. For example: "Have you had sex with a left-handed prostitute from Guam anytime in the last eleven months while visiting Hungary?" That's a fictitious example, but it's not that far off track.

The blood draws itself is virtually painless. You pretty much just sit there and squeeze this little rubber ball while messing around with your phone. Before you know it, you're done. One band-aid, a couple of cookies and an orange juice, and you're out the door.

Save a life and get a free movie ticket next Monday, July 2, at St. Mary's Blood Center. It's easy to find. It's in the St. Mary's Medical Pavillion at 750 Wellington on the southeast corner of 7th and Patterson.
