It was a back-and-forth action between the two teams, keeping the score close for the entire game (including an 8-8 tie at halftime). But, with just over a minute left of regulation, Jeremy Sieverts scored the game-winning goal to help the Denver Outlaws take their semifinal game and advance to the 2014 Major League Lacrosse Championship.

The Outlaws beat the New York Lizards 14-13 in front of a home crowd Saturday at the University of Denver’s Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.

Denver will now face the Rochester Rattlers in the championship match-up, which is considered a rematch of the 2008 championship. Ironically, the 2008 Rochester team was coached by current Denver Head Coach B.J. O’Hara.

The 2014 Major League Lacrosse Championship is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time next Saturday (August 23) at the Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia. The Denver Outlaws are making their fifth appearance to the championship game, and a win would mark the team’s first MLL Championship Title.
