For Some, Music is the Last Thing on Their Mind at Country Jam
Country Jam is a huge music festival held each year in Mack, Colorado. For some, music is the furthest thing from their mind. Instead, they seem to focus on how quickly they can get ticketed or arrested by law enforcement.
Take Saturday (June 16) for example. Between Mesa County Sheriff's Deputies and Colorado State Liquor Enforcement Officers there were 60 arrests and 60 summons.
Rather than give you a laundry list of all the misconduct law enforcement had to deal with, I'll share just a few highlights. First, Sheriff's Deputies responded to several reports of intoxicated individuals, a report of vandalism, a hit and run, (thankfully no injuries), and a domestic violence incident.
Other statistics from Country Jam are as follows with comparison to 2017 in parentheses.
At the Festival
- Minor in Possession of Alcohol/Alcohol Offenses 28 (26)
- Procuring Alcohol to a Minor 4 (0)
- Fake ID 2 (1)
- False Reporting 1 (1)
- Obstructing a Peace Officer 1 (0)
- Warrant 1 (0)
At the Campground
- Minor in Possession/Alcohol Offenses 26 (28)
- Unlawful Use of Driver's License 1 (0)
In the Parking Lot
- Trespass 1 (0)
Krystalyn Quirarte, 34, arrested for Domestic Violence and Harassment Strikes, Shoves, Kicks
Dick Aaron, 21 arrested on a misdemeanor warrant for Failure to Appear.
If you missed going to Country Jam on Saturday, you could either be thankful you avoided having to be around these people or wishing you would have gone just to witness the spectacle. Either way, not being there ensured you weren't part of those who opted for trouble over entertainment.
