Construction Underway on Dillon Colorado Ice Castles [PICTURES]
Construction has begun on Ice Castles in Dillon, Colorado. Crews turned on water and begun growing icicles earlier this month.
Each day, ice artisans will grow and harvest up to 10,000 icicles to build the winter experience. Each of those icicles is then hand-placed and sprayed with water. The process is repeated until the castles reach heights of around 30 feet.
Ice Castles shared this video that gives us a little insight into the construction of the massive ice structure:
The Dillon location is expected to open around mid-December this season.
The team of ice artisans in Dillon will spend a combined 4,000 hours this season dripping, shaping, and hand-placing the icicles, while embedding the structures with color-changing LED lights to create a life-size winter playground.
