Adorable ‘Weiner Dog Races’ to Bring Lots of Smiles to Colorado

LovelandCalling all Colorado dachshund owners: Your chance at a great day of being proud of your fast dog, and the shot at free beer has arrived.

One of the great things about "Weiner Dog" races, is that they're not only fun to be a part of, but they're (almost) more fun to just watch. We all have that chance coming up on Saturday, September 16, 2023, in Loveland.

There will be more than a few things happening at this Oktoberfest celebration going on at Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery at The Promenade Shops at Centerra, but many will be looking forward to the "Dachshund Fun-Run Races."

Is it that they're so small? Is it those floppy ears flapping in the wind as they hurry to their destination? Is it the cheers of the crowd? There are more than a few reasons why these kinds of races are so much fun.

Another part of these "Weiner Dog Races" is you get to hear the great names that their humans have given them.

Names like:

• Frederick Footlong
• Stretch.
• Teeny Weenie.
• Longfellow.
• Schnitzel.
• Torpedo.

WHEN IS THIS 'WEINER DOG' RACE EVENT HAPPENING IN LOVELAND, COLORADO?

it will be a part of Rock Bottom's "Dach-toberfest" event on Saturday, September 16, 2023.

• 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. - Outside in their Beer Garden.
• Live Entertainment.
• A keg of Margaritas.
• Two New Oktoberfest Beers.
• Full Bar.
• Stein Lifting Competition.
• Food Specials.
• 'Dachshund Fun-Run Races' beginning at Noon.

The races will be in conjunction with Mile High Dachshund Rescue, with 15% of sales during the event going to the rescue. Mile High will have one dachshund on the scene that's available for adoption.

ARE RACES OPEN TO ALL DACHSHUNDS? DO YOU HAVE TO PRE-REGISTER?

All dachshunds are welcome (free entries,) and pre-registering is not necessary.

WHAT DOES THE WINNING DOG'S HUMAN WIN?

They'll be giving away a mini-keg from Rock Bottom.
