I grew up Catholic and attended Mass every Sunday, so I am very familiar with the concept of sin. Let me tell you — it's pretty hard not to do it.

While I like to think that everyone tries their best to avoid transgressions, some people are better at it than others, as well as some states.

WalletHub recently conducted a study to find the most sinful states in the U.S., using a variation of the seven deadly sins: anger and hatred, jealousy, excesses and vices, greed, lust, vanity, and laziness. *cue Brad Pitt screaming "What's in the box?!"*

Translation? Violent crimes, theft, excessive drinking, gambling, watching X-rated content, stopping by the beauty salon, and being a couch potato.

According to the study, Colorado is officially ... drumroll, please ... the 21st most sinful state in the country. We place 20th in terms of violent crime, 7th in theft, 27th in excessive drinking, 40th in gambling, 22nd in filthy films, 15th in vanity, and 46th in laziness.

All in all, we're pretty good at avoiding the casino and hitting the gym. Plus, we're statistically more virtuous than states like Louisiana, Florida, Texas, California, and of course, the home of Sin City, Nevada.

As for why we rank 7th in theft? Blame our catalytic converter problem.

Despite this, I'd argue that Colorado is still a great place to live. However, if you're looking for some (slightly) sin-free states, consider moving to Iowa, South Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming, or Idaho.
