Authorities Continue Search for Inmate Who Escaped from Colorado Prison
An inmate at the Fourmile Correctional Center in Canon City escaped early Tuesday (May 29) morning. Authorities found clothing he was wearing when he escaped Wednesday morning. The inmate, considered dangerous, has not been found.
The Colorado State Patrol says 37-year-old Michael Onorato was working on an outside crew at a dairy farm when he escaped sometime before a 3 a.m. inmate count. Onorato is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, 5-feet 4-inches tall, and weighs 144 pounds. He has grown out his hair and facial hair since the booking photo shown.
Onorato's prison clothing was found on a riverbank near Florence, about two miles from where he escaped. It is unknown what clothing he is currently wearing and authorities don't have any leads to his whereabouts.
Onorato was in prison after being sentenced for vehicle theft, drug abuse, robbery convictions, and other charges.
Prison officials and law enforcement ask that anyone with information that may help them find Onorato call the DOC Fugitive Tip Line at 866-873-6305 or their local police or sheriff's department.
