I made the drive up the mesa last week in hope of getting in some quality time before the weather got nasty. I'm glad I did. As of this morning, November 24, there's snow on the ground. Of course, you know what that means.... slippery roads.

Right here, right now (10:21 a.m. on Tuesday, November 24) a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the Grand Mesa. According to the National Weather Service, the Grand Mesa will get a break from the snow on Wednesday, but it will return on Thanksgiving and continue through Friday.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office shared this statement on Facebook:

It's beginning to look a lot like winter on the Grand Mesa! If you're headed to higher elevations, please prepare for winter driving conditions. Slow down and leave extra room to stop between you and the car in front of you.

At times like this there is only one thing to do... visit cotrip.org and check on the locations of snow plows. As of 10:29 this morning, there were four snowplows hard at work on the Mesa.

The Grand Mesa is always awesome, but it's even more so in the winter. I hope you'll have a chance to get up there while there's snow on the ground. Plan ahead and be sure to check with CDOT for road conditions.
