Backpackers Saved From Dominguez Canyon After Over 9 Hour Rescue
Around 9:15 yesterday Sunday a backpacker in the Dominguez Canyon called for help. He was backpacking with three other men, camping and hiking in the area when they ran out of water.
According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office Facebook, all the hikers were in their 50s, from the Front Range and not familiar with the area.
After the four backpackers realized all of the surrounding water sources were dry, they became lost. The hikers were without water since the day before and needed some help.
All four of the backpackers are safe and sound after 40 miles and 9 and a half hours. Water is just one of those things you literally can't go without. I'm happy that all four hikers are alright and I'm sure this was a trip they'll never forget.
