UPDATE: December 18  11:00am: Both suspects are now also facing charges of attempted murder in the first degree. Investigators believe the residents of the home were the intended targets of the early-morning shooting. The case remains under investigation.

Two arrests have been made after shots were fired early Thursday morning in a Grand Junction neighborhood.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, just before 1:00 am, a sheriff's deputy heard what sounded like gunshots in the area Moonlight Court and Belford Avenue, just off of E Road. As it turned out, shots had been fired into an occupied home resulting in about $2000 in damages, but no reported injuries.

While deputies were speaking to witnesses, a truck matching the description of the suspects' vehicle returned to the area. Deputies stopped the vehicle and the two occupants were taken into custody. Police found a defaced gun inside the vehicle along with spent shell casings. Shell casings were also discovered on the road.

The two suspects, 21-year-old Justin Fowler of Grand Junction and 20-year-old Trey Shriver are facing multiple charges including the illegal discharge of a firearm, criminal mischief, drug charges, and several others. Shriver was also charged with attempting to influence a public servant and being a fugitive.

The investigation into the early morning shooting is continuing and authorities are hoping neighbors in the area can help with security system videos that may have captured the suspects' vehicle on camera between 1:00 am and 2:30 am. If you can help, send an email to Jeffery.Byrne@mesacounty.us.
