Denver can be a fun place to be and it can be costly, so here's a quick look at seven fun, free things to do in Denver.
How many times do you want to get away for the weekend, perhaps with the kids - or perhaps without - and you are looking for something fun to do that's not going to cost you an arm and a leg. You have travel, lodging, and dining expenses and then entertainment on top of it all.
But, there are some things you can that are highly enjoyable and the total cost is zero dollars.

DENVER MINT
Discover how billions of coins are made every year for circulation. Tickets are free, but not available in advance of the day of your visit. You have to get there early in the day to get tickets for a tour that day. Children must be at least seven years of age.

HAMMOND'S CANDY FACTORY
Lollipops, candy canes, chocolate bars and more are manufactured and packaged at this factory. There are large video screens throughout the factory so you are able to get a close-up look at how the candy is made.

COLORADO SPORTS HALL OF FAME
Located at Denver's Mile High Stadium, you can learn about Colorado's most outstanding athletes in high school, college, and professional sports. Admission to the museum is free, but a tour of the stadium will set you back 20 bucks.

CELESTIAL SEASONINGS HEADQUARTERS
Okay, so this is actually in Boulder, but close enough. Free tours take you behind-the-scenes to see how the Celestial Seasonings famous tea is made beginning with the raw ingredients. Children under the age of five are not allowed on the factory portion of the tour.

COLORADO CAPITOL
Free guided tours of this historic building are offered hourly from 10am-3pm. You'll want to arrive at least 20 minutes early to better you chances of getting in on the tour you want. Self-guided tours are also available, but you don't get to see the famous dome.

NATIONAL CENTER FOR ATMOSPHERIC RESEARCH
They offer guided and self-guided tours, exhibits, and a theater. Learn about atmospheric science, weather, and about current research. Oh, this one is also in Boulder.

COORS BREWERY TOUR
It's the world's largest single-site brewery. Your self-paced tour is highlighted by a look at the malting, brewing, and packaging processes. The tour includes a look at old photos, historical cans, memorabilia, and samples for age-appropriate guests. Even if you don't drink beer this is a fascinating experience.
