The fall session of the popular Ridgway Area Mountain Bike School starts soon and registration for young riders is open now.

The school is targeted to children from kindergarten through 5th grade in the Ridgway, Ouray, Montrose, and Telluride areas include home-schooled students.

The school teaches kids who can already pedal a bicycle on their own, how to properly ride paved paths, unpaved trails, and a BMX pump track.

The school also shows young bike riders how to inspect and maintain their bike.

The sessions are from 3:45 p.m. until 5 p.m. for five consecutive Mondays beginning September 18.

Registration for the class is $100, but there are needs based scholarships available for children who's families can't afford to pay some or all of the fee.

The class requires students to bring their own bicycle, helmet, hydration pack or water bottle and a snack.
