It appears bed bugs love the Mile High City. Denver, Colo. has made the list of the most bed bug infested cities in the US for 2014.

According to Terminix, the list is compiled using calls to the exterminator reporting bed bug problems between January 1 and June 30, 2014.

The company explains the best way to know if bed bugs have infested your home, hotel room or other areas.

The most obvious way to detect the presence of bedbugs is bite marks to the body. However, marks may take up to 14 days to appear and can be highly variable in appearance, so look for other signs such as exoskeletons of bedbugs, live bedbugs in mattress seams, a sweet musty odor, and rusty-colored blood spots on mattresses and sheets."

Terminix also says contrary to popular belief, bed bugs aren't limited to mattresses and can invade a traveler's personal items including folded clothing and luggage.
