The Colorado Mesa University women's basketball team scored big to beat Ft. Lewis College at a packed Brownson arena in the first round of the South Central Regional Tournament Friday (March15).The Lady Mavs held a 14 point lead at halftime and went on to easily win the game 74-48. Kelsey Sigl and Katrina Selsor were the top scorers for the Mavs with 18 and 16 points respectively.

The Mavericks advance to the semi-final round Saturday night 7:30 p.m. and will play  Texas Permian Basin who defeated Abilene Christian 70-68 Friday night at Brownson Arena.

In other tournament action, Metro State College and Midwestern State were winners in the first round. They will face each other in the semi-finals at 5:00 p.m. Saturday night.
