Believe it or not, it's almost time for a time change.

We are getting ready to spring forward and turn our clocks ahead one hour. Daylight Saving Time in 2020 officially begins on Sunday, March 8. For most of us, that means changing our clocks before we go to bed Saturday night. Others will wait until they get up on Sunday morning to move their clocks, but those people run the risk of forgetting to do it, or, perhaps, waking up a little confused about what time it really is.

The days are already getting longer and giving us a little more daylight each day. That trend will continue until the summer solstice June 20, when the days begin to get "shorter" and our evening daylight starts to diminish.

The only states that won't be changing their clocks for Daylight Saving Time are Hawaii and Arizona. They stay on standard time all year long and never have to mess with their clocks and deal with a time change. However, there is one exception and that is the Navajo Nation in northeastern Arizona, northwestern New Mexico, and southeastern Utah, which chooses to stay on standard time. That includes the towns of Tuba City, Chinle, and Window Rock.

Thankfully, our smartphones are smart enough to make the change for us and help eliminate some of the confusion. That means we are left to change the clocks on the oven, the microwave, the coffee maker, the alarm clock, and the clock on the living room wall. We will stay on DST until November 1, when we turn our clocks back one hour and return to standard time.

More evening daylight is a good thing, but one less hour of sleep Saturday night doesn't feel so good.
