It seems like we have new information and new regulations coming at us all the time. But yesterday I heard of something new, the Mesa County Variance Protection Program. But I had no idea what exactly it was so I did some research and wanted to pass that information on to you.

This whole project was put together by Mesa County Public Health and the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce and it will encourage our local businesses to implement safety measures that will slow the spread of COVID-19 and allow Mesa County to continue moving toward reopening efforts so we can work on recovering our local economy. We all know that small businesses in our area have been hit hard due to this pandemic and we need to do whatever possible to support them.

Any business that wants to apply for this Variance Protection Program can get more details about that by clicking here. It works in a five-star rating system with two local businesses (The Ale House & Sprouts) having already received their five-star rating. Several other local businesses qualified and will receive their awards later.

We all want to get past this pandemic as quickly as possible so I think it's good to see so many businesses doing everything they can to keep their building, employees, and the community safe.

Signing up for this Variance Protection Program is not required by Mesa County Public Health, but they do want to highlight those businesses that are working to slow the spread of COVID-19. So if you go out to eat and see a five-star rating on their wall, that's why.
