We were both shocked and saddened when the man who hosted 'American Bandstand,' Dick Clark, died from a heart attack on April 18, 2012.

Dick Clark who had earned the nickname 'America's oldest teenager' died following a medical procedure in California.

Clark is best known as the host of 'American Bandstand,' which aired nationally on television from 1957-1987. The show was revived briefly in 1989.

Dick Clark hosted the game show '$10,000 Pyramid' and was the perennial host of 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve' until suffering a stroke in 2004. Regis Philbin hosted that year. Clark was back the following year, but speech problems from the stroke prevented him from continuing as regular host. Ryan Seacrest took over the hosting duties of the annual show, but Clark continued to make appearances until his death.

Following his death, Clark's family decided not to have a funeral opting for cremation and his ashes spread in the Pacific Ocean.
