There are many timeless rock and roll songs. Sometimes we may not realize it until we hear them in a different way."The Sound of Silence" is one of those songs.

Of course, Simon and Garfunkel's debut hit "The Sound of Silence" is a great song. That's why it spent two weeks on top of the Billboard chart in  January of 1966. And, that's why it is still played on classic hits radio stations still today.

Why mess with greatness?! A song that is #157 on Rolling Stones list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All time. But, maybe that's the point.

Simon and Garfunkel's version of the song was great, but maybe it's a great song even without them. By the same token, maybe it's the familiarity with the way they did it that can make  you appreciate this rendition by Disturbed.

Disturbed is a heavy metal band you may have never heard of, but they bring "The Sound of Silence" into the 21st century in a very modern but very cool way.

While the first verse may not get your attention, the time you get to the last verse you will be paying full attention. I'm pretty sure you have never heard "The Sound of Silence" this way before.
