Sure Fire Picks Week 5 – Drinking the Detroit Kool-Aid

A last second victory by previously winless Tampa Bay, and an unlikely win by a rookie quarterback making his first-ever NFL start left me 2-2 last week on sure-fire picks. That leaves me at 9-3 for the season and looking to get back on track this week. If you are playing our pro football pick em contest, I think I can help.

DETROIT over BUFFALO
The Detroit Lions have under-achieved as much as any team in the league in recent years, but things may be changing. At 3-1 a-top the NFC North, the Lions are playing mistake-free and winning with defense. I'm starting to drink the Detroit Kool-Aid, believing this is the team that will win the division.The Bills are tough to figure out. After winning their first two games, they've lost two in a row and haven't looked good at all. This should be a good game, but Detroit gets the nod at home.
My prediction: Detroit 27 | Buffalo 20 

PHILADELPHIA over ST. LOUIS
Sometimes the Eagles have looked really good like victories over Indianapolis and Washington, and then sometimes they look really bad, like when their offense failed to score a touchdown in last week's loss to San Francisco. A loss here would be pretty incredible. The Rams are trying desperately not to let this season get away from them, but are looking more and more like a team that will be drafting in the top 5 of next year's draft.

My prediction: EAGLES   34 | RAMS 17

NEW ORLEANS over TAMPA BAY
Talk about a team that has underachieved this season, the Saints have managed only a win over Minnesota, and now find themselves desperately trying to stay in playoff contention. A loss to Tampa Bay would be a death blow - partly because it would be a fourth loss, and partly because it's Tampa Bay, a team with just one in its hip pocket. The Buccaneers may be feeling confident after last week's thrilling last second win over Pittsburgh. But, going to New Orleans to play a desperate Saints team can't end well for the Bucs.
My Prediction: SAINTS 28 | BUCCANEERS  20

SEATTLE over WASHINGTON
Seattle is a very good football team, but it's been proven already this season they aren't invincible. Meanwhile, the Redskins, or that 'NFL team that plays in Washington' as some are referring to them, look like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. They are due for a win, and could keep this one close at home, but the Seahawks defense will be the difference on Monday night.
