All those sports drinks claim they are full of the things you body needs to replenish itself. But does your body really need a scientifically formulated beverage?

This commercial parody exposes the sports drink industry in a very funny way. Yes, there are times when a sports drink is beneficial, but most of the time, what we probably need is fewer soft drinks of any kind - sports drinks included - and more water.

Read the label on a sports drink and you'll find the primary ingredient is water. Everything else you can probably get with a healthy well-balanced diet.

If sports drinks make you feel or taste better, then go ahead and indulge. Just know, unless you're a professional athlete or an exercise enthusiast, that rush of energy is probably from the sugar in the drink.
